Chess Playing Pavilion, located at the north of Chess Winning Building, was constructed in 2003 to carry forward the chess playing cultures inherited in the scenic spot. According to the legend, its name comes from that the first emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of Ming Dynasty played chess with Zhongshan Prince Xu Da. It already has a history of over 600 years. Influenced by this, Mochou Lake has become one of arenas for the emperors, generals, officers, wealthy people, merchants and scholars to play chess and make friends here since the Ming and Qing dynasties.
